Boons is simple on purpose. These are the boundaries worth knowing before you send a link.
Do either of us need an app or account?
No. The helper starts a session and shares a temporary link. The other person opens it in their browser and chooses whether to allow camera and microphone access.
Which phones and computers can use Boons?
Use a current version of Safari, Chrome, or Firefox on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, or Chromebook. In-app browsers can restrict camera access, so opening the link in the phone's main browser is more reliable.
Who can use the public beta?
Boons is currently a free public beta for people age 18 or older who are located in the United States.
Does Boons record the session?
No. Boons never records or stores video, audio, drawings, freeze frames, or screenshots. A participant can still use their own device to record a screen, so share session links only with someone you trust.
What does a direct connection mean for privacy?
For a direct WebRTC connection, the two browsers exchange the network details needed to connect, which can reveal an IP address to the invited participant. Boons does not retain those connection candidates. If a relay is needed, encrypted media passes through temporarily and is not saved.
Is Boons for emergencies or professional repairs?
No. Do not use Boons for emergencies or high-risk medical, gas, electrical, machinery, or other work that needs a qualified professional. Stop whenever a step feels unsafe.
